Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart hosted his 2nd
Annual Bowling Bash at Kings Dining & Entertainment Seaport on Monday
March 19. In total, the event raised nearly $40,000. Marcus Smart’s Bowling
Bash will benefit Marcus Smart’s YounGameChanger Foundation, whose mission
is to provide families with seriously and chronically ill children with
encouragement and life-changing experiences and to be a voice of motivation, empowerment
and encouragement to inner city young athletes to be game changers off the
court or field.
Smart was joined for an evening of food, fun, and bowling competition. While
Smart was sidelined due to his recent surgery, guests got to talk to Smart and
bowled alongside other Boston celebrities, including DJ Pup Dawg, Celtics
Legend Dana Barros, Bruins Legend Graeme Townshend, and many more. Funds raised
at Marcus Smart’s Bowling Bash will go toward the continuation
of his Smart Center program.
In 2017, Marcus, through the YounGameChanger Foundation, unveiled two
Smart Centers at Boston-area pediatric hospitals. These Smart Centers are
portable carts that move between inpatient units and outpatient clinics. The
Smart Centers are filled with electronics to provide patients and their
families access to technology and other resources as a means for relaxation,
communication and therapy during their hospital stays.
